About Free Web Games
Free Web Games is a small catalogue of browser games — 646 of them today. Each one is written for this site in plain TypeScript and drawn on an HTML canvas. There is no store, no launcher and no account wall: you open a page, press Play, and the game starts in the tab you already have open.
Original games, not clones
Game mechanics are not owned by anyone — names, characters and artwork are. So the games here borrow rules that are older than the web and nothing else: no familiar brand in a title, no emulated ROM, no sprite lifted from a console game. If a game reminds you of something you played in 1989, that is the mechanic talking, and the mechanic was never the part anybody owned.
How the site pays for itself
Banner ads, and nothing else. They sit between the shelves and beside the game field, and the space they occupy is reserved in the page before they load, so nothing jumps under your cursor. No ad is ever placed on top of a game. There is no paid tier, no loot box and nothing to buy.
Scores, accounts and your data
Playing needs no account. Best scores and favorites live in your own browser until you decide otherwise; an account exists only so the same numbers follow you to another device. What is kept and why is written out on the privacy page.
