Street basketball stripped to two players a side, with no fouls, no stoppages and no half-court formalities. Possession changes constantly, the court is small enough that everybody is always in range, and the game moves at a pace that rewards passing over anything individual. That is the main thing to understand about it. Dribbling past one defender on a court this size simply brings you to the other, while a quick pass moves the ball faster than anybody can reposition — so the teams that score are the ones that move the ball rather than the player. Shooting is a timing input with a release window, and contested shots have a real penalty, which is what makes creating space through passing worthwhile. Matches run to a score total rather than a clock, which keeps them short and the swings frequent. There is a progression of opponents and courts. The presentation is an asphalt court with a heavy tempo, and it plays with three inputs on a keyboard or on-screen buttons. It runs on modest hardware and makes its case within one possession. The absence of stoppages is what sets the tempo. There is no clock management, no set plays and no waiting for a whistle, so a match is a continuous series of possessions and the scoring swings constantly from one side to the other.

How to play Urban Basketball
- Pass rather than dribble; the ball moves faster than the defenders.
- Shoot only when the release window is clear of a defender.
- Cut toward the basket when your teammate has the ball.
- Defend the passing lane rather than the player holding the ball.
- Play to the score total; possession changes constantly.
Tips
- Dribbling past one defender on a small court just delivers you to the other.
- Contested shots are penalised enough that creating space is always worth a pass.
- Defending the lane beats defending the ball carrier.
