An old-fashioned arcade racer with a world tour bolted on. Every race starts you at the back of a field of twenty, which turns each track into the same problem stated differently: find the gaps, keep the speed and pass everyone before the line. The tour moves through deserts, volcanic ash and wet city streets, and the surfaces change how early you have to commit to a gap. Progression is generous rather than punishing. Losing a race costs you nothing except the time it took, and the tour lets you retry until a track clicks, which means the difficulty comes from wanting the better finishing position rather than from being blocked. The cars unlock steadily enough that there is always something new a few races away.

How to play Retro Rush
- Take the inside line into slow corners and the outside into fast ones. The field bunches on the inside everywhere else.
- Pass on the straights and defend in the corners. Overtaking mid-corner in a pack of twenty rarely ends well.
- Lift rather than brake in traffic. Braking hard invites a hit from behind that costs more than the corner.
- Learn the surface. Ash and rain move the braking point considerably earlier than dry tarmac.
- Unlock cars in order rather than saving for the fastest. A mid-tier car you can control beats a fast one you cannot.
Tips
- Starting last is normal, so do not panic in the first corners. Most positions are gained in the second half.
- Boost is worth more on exit than on entry, because it compounds down the following straight.
- If a track keeps beating you, it is usually one corner rather than the whole lap. Find it and practise it.
Questions about Retro Rush
How many tracks are there?
Around thirty across the world tour, with a range of climates and surfaces.
How many cars can I unlock?
Seven, unlocked by progressing through the tour rather than bought separately.
Do I always start last?
Yes, that is the format. The race is about moving through the field.
Does the weather change anything?
Wet and loose surfaces change grip and braking distances, so the same line is not always right.
Is it playable on a phone?
Yes, with on-screen controls.
