An eat-to-grow game that punishes growing. The usual version of this format rewards mass with safety; here mass drains your health faster, so a large fish that stops eating dies of its own size. That single inversion changes the whole rhythm: instead of farming quietly until you are the biggest thing in the water, you are constantly deciding whether the next size is worth the upkeep. The ocean gets darker and less forgiving the deeper you go, and the predators down there are large enough that they were never a target in the first place. What the game actually rewards is restraint — staying at a size you can feed, taking the food you can reach rather than the food you want, and growing only when the next tier of prey is genuinely within reach. It is harder than it looks and considerably more interesting than its premise suggests.

How to play Aqua Bits

  1. Eat continuously. At any size, stopping is fatal because health drains on its own.
  2. Grow only when the next tier of prey is reachable, not whenever you can afford to.
  3. Stay in water where food is dense rather than chasing individual creatures across empty space.
  4. Learn which shapes are predators at your current size; the answer changes as you grow.
  5. Retreat upward when health is low — the shallows are thinner on food and far safer.

Tips

  • The most dangerous moment is immediately after growing, when your drain has risen and your habits have not.
  • Small steady meals beat one large risky one, because the drain does not pause while you hunt.
  • If runs keep ending at the same size, you are growing one tier too early.
