A sliding puzzle with one movement rule and a very long tail. Blocks move left and right only, a completed row clears itself, and there is no timer anywhere — which makes it a thinking game rather than a reaction one. The difficulty comes entirely from how tightly the stages are built, and with well over a thousand of them the curve has room to be gentle for a long time before it starts biting. What makes the good stages good is that they have exactly one solution and it is not the obvious one. Because blocks cannot be rotated or lifted, every move is a commitment, and the puzzles that take longest are the ones where the first three moves all look equally reasonable. It is a game for a quiet ten minutes rather than a session, and the fact that it never hurries you is the main reason it works.

How to play Block Slide
- Work out which row you intend to complete before moving anything.
- Clear from the bottom up; blocks above settle into the space and often complete a second row.
- Look for the block that can only go one place and move it first.
- Undo freely — there is no penalty and exploring a branch is how hard stages get solved.
- Reset rather than grinding a board you have painted into a corner.
Tips
- A move that completes nothing is usually a mistake here, because every slide is a commitment.
- Stages with an odd number of one colour almost always resolve around that colour.
- If nothing works, look for a block you have been treating as immovable.
