A strategy game with two halves that fund each other. You build a village laid out to survive attacks, and you attack other villages to collect the resources that pay for the next building — which means every upgrade is a choice between defending what you have and reaching further. The half that decides most outcomes is layout. Storage placed at the edge of a base is storage somebody takes for free; walls that funnel attackers into your defences are worth more than the same money spent on another defence, and a base that looks impressive is frequently one that leaks. On the offensive side it is a planning problem rather than a reflex one: you choose the troops, you choose where they land, and then you watch a plan succeed or fail without being able to intervene much, which is what makes the planning matter.

How to play Clash of Clans

  1. Put storage at the centre and defences around it, not the other way round.
  2. Use walls to funnel attackers into your strongest defences rather than to enclose everything evenly.
  3. Upgrade defences and storage together; capacity you cannot protect is capacity you will lose.
  4. Scout a target before attacking and choose the side with the weakest cover.
  5. Spend resources before logging off — a full store is what raiders are looking for.

Tips

  • A compact base is harder to raid than a large one, because attackers get less room to place troops.
  • Troop composition matters less than the landing point you choose for it.
  • Upgrading everything slowly beats upgrading one thing quickly, because raiders look for the gap.
