The pixel presentation keeps everything legible, and the throwing mechanic is simple enough to learn in a quarter and hard enough to keep failing at under pressure. Defence resolves without you, which keeps a game short and puts the weight on your own decisions. The season structure is what makes it addictive. Fans lose patience, contracts expire, draft picks arrive, and a championship run requires having built toward it three seasons earlier. Games take a few minutes each and a season takes an evening. It plays with taps on a phone, saves reliably, and is one of the better sports games available in a browser.
