Sprunki Clicker

A clicker whose rewards are audio. You tap characters to earn coins, and the coins unlock new sounds, each of which changes what your tapping actually produces — so the incentive is not a larger number but a different noise, and by the later unlocks the game is closer to a toy instrument than to an incremental. That makes it a better-natured game than most in the genre. There is still an upgrade ladder and still automation to buy, but the thing you are working toward is something to listen to rather than a bigger figure, and the result is that a session ends when you have heard what you were curious about rather than when a timer permits. The characters are distinct enough that collecting them feels like collecting rather than accumulating. It runs in a background tab and saves progress, it plays one-handed on a phone, and sound is close to essential — without it the game is a plain clicker and a fairly ordinary one. With sound it is a small, cheerful, slightly odd thing. Sessions work at any length and nothing is lost by stopping mid-way. There is an end to the unlock list, which matters in a genre that usually does not have one. Once the sounds are collected there is no reason to keep the tab open, and the game does not pretend otherwise by inventing a further tier of numbers.
