A tunnel roller with one hazard type and a lot of geometry. A small ball travels through luminous tunnels that twist in several directions at once, and the only thing that can end a run is contact with a purple block — which makes the game a pure exercise in finding where the blocks are not. Having a single hazard colour is a better design choice than it sounds. There is no categorisation to do and no hazard types to learn, so all of your attention goes on the geometry: where the tunnel is turning, which part of the wall you are currently on, and where the clear band through the next section runs. That makes the difficulty entirely spatial. The twisting is what supplies it. A tunnel that turns while you are moving around its circumference changes which wall is below you, and the blocks are placed to punish anybody who has lost track of that. Speed rises continuously, narrowing the time available to re-orient. Runs last under a minute and restarting is a press. The presentation is bright and the purple blocks are unmistakable against everything else, which is all it needs. It plays with two inputs on a phone or keyboard and needs a moderately capable machine for smooth tunnels.

How to play Xlope 3

  1. Track where the clear band runs rather than where the blocks are.
  2. Move with the tunnel's twist rather than holding an absolute position.
  3. Re-orient early after a turn; the wall below you has changed.
  4. Make small continuous adjustments instead of discrete moves.
  5. Restart immediately — runs are seconds long.

Tips

  • One hazard type means all your attention can go on the geometry.
  • The twist changes which wall is below you, and the blocks punish losing track.
  • Finding the clear band is easier than avoiding the blocks individually.
