A line puzzle with two rules: connect every pair of matching dots, and fill every square on the board without any path crossing another. Those two conditions together are what make it a real puzzle rather than a maze — it is usually easy to connect the dots and hard to do it while leaving no gaps, and the second requirement is what forces the solution to be unique. There is no timer and no penalty for trying, so the game is a thinking space rather than a test. The early boards teach the technique — corners first, then the paths that have only one possible route — and the later ones are large enough that a solution has to be planned rather than drawn. It is the kind of puzzle that works equally well for a child learning the logic and an adult who wants ten quiet minutes.

How to play Brain Lines

  1. Start in the corners. They have the fewest options and usually force the first correct move.
  2. Look for pairs with only one possible route and draw those before anything else.
  3. Fill as you go rather than connecting everything and fixing gaps afterwards.
  4. Erase early when a path leaves an unreachable square; the board tells you immediately.
  5. Reset rather than forcing a board where two paths must cross.

Tips

  • A single empty square at the end means an earlier path took the wrong detour, not that the last one was wrong.
  • Paths that hug the edges leave more room in the middle, which is usually what the larger boards need.
  • If two routes look equally valid, one of them blocks a square you have not looked at yet.
