Car Chaos

Cars in a closed arena with no finish line and no rules worth mentioning. You ram, you shove, and you use whatever the arena provides — crushers, pits, spinning hazards — to remove the other vehicles, which means the environment is usually more dangerous than any opponent. That is what makes it work as a two-player game. Direct contact is a poor way to win because it damages both cars, so the better play is positional: line somebody up with a hazard and let the arena do it. Physics are loose enough that nothing goes quite as planned, the damage model means a battered car handles noticeably worse, and matches are short. On one keyboard with somebody else it is exactly the kind of game that produces accusations of cheating, which is the format working as intended. The arenas themselves deserve attention. Each one is laid out so that the safest-looking ground is next to the thing that removes you, which means learning an arena is mostly learning where not to stand when somebody is pushing you.
