A reworking of the night-shift premise into a first-person shooter, which is a bigger change than it sounds. Having a weapon removes the helplessness the original formula depends on and replaces it with a resource problem: ammunition is limited, the threats close distance quickly, and firing at the wrong moment leaves you empty when it matters. The supermarket setting does useful work. Aisles create long sightlines and blind corners in equal measure, so the same space is either an advantage or a trap depending on which end of it you are standing at, and the correct approach is to fight where you can see and retreat where you cannot. It is less atmospheric than the games it takes from and more mechanically interesting, which is a reasonable trade — the tension here comes from your own supply rather than from being unable to act.

How to play FNaF Shooter

  1. Fight down aisles where you can see, and retreat rather than fighting at corners.
  2. Count your ammunition before advancing rather than after.
  3. Reload during quiet stretches; a reload with something approaching is a death.
  4. Use the torch sparingly — it shows you the aisle and shows them you.
  5. Retreat to cleared ground rather than pushing into unknown sections.

Tips

  • The aisles are symmetrical, which means the angle that favours you also favours them from the other end.
  • Sprinting is loud and occasionally correct; walking is the default.
  • If a section keeps failing, you are fighting it at the wrong end of the aisle.
