One-on-one arcade basketball with deliberately oversized characters and a special move for each of them. The heads are not just a visual joke — they change the physics, because a large head is a large surface for the ball to bounce off, which means possession is frequently decided by where somebody happened to be standing rather than by any decision. Around that sits a competent little sports game. The special moves charge through play and are strong enough to swing a two-minute match, so spending them well is the main strategic decision, and the character roster varies enough in speed and reach to matter. It plays against the computer and considerably better against somebody sharing the keyboard, where the specials become a bluffing contest. It is unserious in exactly the right way for a game you play four rounds of.

How to play Head Basketball
- Jump into the ball's path rather than at the opponent; the heads do the work.
- Charge the special through ordinary play and spend it when they are out of position.
- Shoot from standing, since moving shots miss far more often.
- Defend by occupying the space in front of the basket rather than contesting.
- Play two-player if you can; the specials are better against a person.
Tips
- A special saved is a special your opponent has to play around, which is worth something on its own.
- Rebounds off the heads are unpredictable, so being near the basket beats timing a jump.
- Characters differ in reach, which matters more than their speed in a small court.
