The opening is a drop over a waterfall and the game never really recovers from it. From there you are steering across open water at a speed that keeps climbing, threading between mines and lotus patches that obscure the surface right when you need to see it. There is no brake, no shield and no forgiving margin. Starfish scattered along the route are the only thing to collect, and they buy jet skis that look different rather than behave differently. The result is a very pure arcade runner: everything you accumulate is cosmetic and everything you improve is in your own reactions.

How to play Wave Rider
- Steer in short corrections. The craft carries sideways momentum and a long input crosses more water than you intended.
- Look past the obstacle in front of you. At this speed the useful information is always further up the screen.
- Take starfish that sit on your line and ignore the rest. A collectible is never worth a run.
- Watch for the lotus patches specifically. They hide the water underneath them, so plan the line before entering.
- Keep to the middle when the currents shift, so that a correction is available in either direction.
Tips
- The speed ramps in steps rather than smoothly. Expect a jump in difficulty and reset your reading distance when it comes.
- Runs that end in the first twenty seconds are usually caused by over-steering, not by the obstacles.
- Unlocking a new craft changes nothing about the difficulty, so play for the distance rather than the shop.
Questions about Wave Rider
What are the starfish for?
Unlocking jet skis. They are cosmetic, so collecting them is optional rather than a progression requirement.
Does the game ever slow down?
No. The pace rises for as long as you survive, which is what eventually ends every run.
What ends a run?
Hitting a mine or an obstacle. There is no health to absorb a mistake.
Is it playable one handed?
Yes, steering is the only input and it maps to two taps.
Is there a finish line?
No, it is endless and the score is the distance covered.
