A side-scrolling brawler about a small round pig and an unreasonable number of zombie rabbits. The combat mixes melee and ranged weapons freely, and the arsenal is wide enough that most encounters have several right answers — but the mechanic that lifts it above the crowd is the ability to slow time, which turns a wave about to overwhelm you into a wave you can walk through. That slow is a resource rather than a toggle, so the interesting question is always when to spend it: now, to escape the pile you are standing in, or in ten seconds, when the pile will be worse. Waves escalate steadily, weapons unlock as you go, and a second player can share the same keyboard — which is the mode where the game is at its funniest, because two people slowing time at different moments is not coordination, it is chaos.

How to play Bacon May Die

  1. Keep moving along the line rather than standing in one spot; being surrounded is the only real danger.
  2. Spend the slow when you are already trapped, not to make an easy wave easier.
  3. Match weapons to crowds: swing at groups, shoot at the fast ones coming ahead of them.
  4. Jump over a pile rather than fighting through it, then turn and fight with the line in front of you.
  5. Play co-op if you can; two players cover the two directions the waves arrive from.

Tips

  • Ranged weapons run out and melee does not, so open with the gun and finish with the bat.
  • The slow also slows your own attacks, so use it to reposition rather than to deal damage.
  • Waves come from both sides eventually. Watch the edge you are not facing.
