An arena shooter built around movement rather than aim. Sliding, jumping and wall traversal chain together into sustained motion, and the players who dominate are not the ones with the best crosshair placement but the ones who never present a stationary target — which makes it feel much closer to the fast arena shooters of twenty years ago than to modern tactical ones. That emphasis changes how fights resolve. An exchange between a stationary player with good aim and a moving player with adequate aim goes to the moving one almost every time, so the skill to practise is the traversal rather than the shooting. Maps are built with the verticality that assumes it, weapons have travel time you have to lead, and the neon presentation keeps everything readable at the speeds the movement produces. It loads in seconds and expects a mouse.

How to play Ev.io

  1. Slide into every corner instead of walking round it; you arrive faster and lower.
  2. Chain slide into jump across open ground — the combined movement is very hard to track.
  3. Use the vertical routes; most players stay on the floor and that is free advantage.
  4. Lead your shots, because projectiles travel rather than hitting instantly.
  5. Keep moving while reloading rather than finding cover to stand in.

Tips

  • A player who stops to aim loses to a player who does not, which is the whole game in one line.
  • Learn one map's vertical routes properly; it is worth more than any weapon preference.
  • Sensitivity matters here more than in slower shooters — lower is usually better while learning.
