A side-on fighting game with no combo system and a great deal of chaos. Weapons are scattered around each level, the scenery breaks, explosives are common, and fights are therefore about picking up whatever is nearest and using the room rather than about executing a sequence of inputs. That makes improvisation the actual skill. A grenade thrown into a corridor, a floor shot out from under somebody, a chainsaw picked up because it was there — these are how fights end, and the players who do well are the ones reading the level rather than the opponent. Because everything is lethal quickly, fights are short and the swings are constant, which keeps a match lively with several people involved. The retro pixel presentation keeps everything readable in what is frequently a very busy screen, and the two-player mode on one keyboard is where it belongs. There is a single-player ladder and a level variety that keeps the improvisation fresh. It runs on anything, plays with four inputs per player, and is considerably smarter than its presentation suggests about making a chaotic fight still feel fair.

How to play Superfighters
- Pick up whatever is nearest rather than crossing the level for a better weapon.
- Use the destructible scenery — removing a floor is often better than a direct hit.
- Throw explosives into enclosed spaces, never open ones.
- Keep moving; standing still in a level this lethal is fatal.
- Play with another person on one keyboard for the intended experience.
Tips
- The environment wins more fights than the weapons do.
- Crossing the level for a better weapon usually costs more than it gains.
- Fights are short, so the swings between rounds are constant.
