A platformer where jumping is the only thing you can do. There is no walk, no run and no mid-air steering worth the name, so getting anywhere means choosing an arc and committing to it — which turns level design from a course into a sequence of geometry problems. That restriction makes the levels short and the thinking long. Each one has an intended sequence of arcs, and the difficulty is usually in working out the first jump rather than in executing the last, because a wrong opening puts you somewhere the rest of the route cannot be reached from. Physics are consistent so the same input always produces the same arc, which is essential — it means a failed attempt is information rather than variance, and the levels are fair even when they are demanding. Restarts are instant and expected, which is the other half of making a game like this playable. You will fail most levels several times before the route becomes obvious, and because each attempt costs a second rather than a minute, the failures read as iteration instead of punishment. It is a small idea pushed as far as it goes.

How to play Jump Only

  1. Work out the whole route before the first jump; the opening is usually the hard part.
  2. Charge less than feels necessary, because overshooting cannot be corrected in the air.
  3. Aim at the near edge of a target platform rather than its middle.
  4. Use walls to stop yourself where the level provides them.
  5. Restart the moment a jump lands wrong rather than trying to recover.

Tips

  • The same charge always gives the same arc, so a failed jump tells you exactly how much to change.
  • Levels with several plausible openings usually have one that is a trap.
  • Short chains of small jumps are more reliable than one long leap, wherever both are possible.
