Snake vs Worms

An arena survival game in the snake format with several modes — a continuous arena, a battle royale with a closing boundary, and an infinity mode without one. The core is the familiar one: grow by consuming, die by touching anybody, kill by making somebody touch you. The modes change the strategy more than they look like they would. In the continuous arena, patience is free and growing slowly at the edges is viable; in battle royale, the closing boundary forces contact and makes the mid-game far more aggressive, so hoarding length early is a liability rather than an advantage. Knowing which mode you are in is the first strategic decision. The tension common to all of them is that length slows your turning while making you a bigger target and a bigger meal, so every success raises the stakes. Matches last three to ten minutes, lobbies fill with real players, and the presentation is simple and legible. It plays one-handed on a phone, runs on very weak hardware, and is accessible to all ages. Nothing carries between matches, which keeps the tone light — a death costs you the round and nothing else, and the next one begins immediately. That makes it a reasonable thing to play for five minutes or fifty without either feeling like a commitment.
